Recipe: Pound Cake

This is my Mother-in-law recipe, who may rest in peace.

1 cup butter (no substitute)
6 egg yolks
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. soda in sour cream
6 egg whites beaten very stiff (set aside)
3 cups sugar
3 cups plain four
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Alternate flour, salt, with sour cream, soda, and vanilla. Fold in egg whites.

Pour into 10-inch tube pan and bake at 300 degrees for 1 ½ hours or until done (light brown on top). Let set 5 minutes. Invert.
Optional Drip Icing: 1 cup podered sugar, 1 tsp. warm milk, 1-2 drops yellow food coloring.
