Recipe: Saice de Tarija, Bolivia!

It is like a stew, with ground beef, some people cook with sliced meat, I personally learned to eat with ground beef. Tarija is the southern part of the country of Bolivia, where the people has a reputation to be happy, friendly and they know how to enjoy life. Music is pretty, the wine is good and the weather is warm. Saice is enjoyed in Bolivia for lunch, but I also heard people have Saice for breakfast in the Mercados (market) in Tarija. There is always rice, potato and also tunta, it is frozen potatoes that are spread in the fresh air and moisted in water to stay moist (the Indígenas, native people make them, you cannot make the tuntas)…It has a particular smell…A tradition from Bolivia, I am presenting you the ingredients:
400g ground meat, beef
1 small white onion, chopped
2 tomatoes in cubes
1/4 to 1/4 cup of vegetable stock
aji rojo (if you cannot find, you may combine with sweet paprika with chili)
green peas
salt, pepper
for the salsa on top (red onion, sliced, tomatoes in cubes, mixed with oil and lemon juice, salt, pepper)
1. in oil, brown the meat, then add onions and tomatoes, mix.
2. add the aji rojo, mix.
3. add vegetable stock, mix, cover and let it cook for about 15 to 20 minutes.
4. Have your guest serve the salsa, on top of the Saice.
Buen provecho!
